Emilee Ritchie poured in 18 points for John Carroll against nationally ranked St. Vincent
John Carroll and St. Vincent had a combined five wins and no losses entering a match-up Tuesday night in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
Something had to give.
Unfortunately for the Blue Streak faithful, what gave was JCU's perfect start to the season. A 14-2 run to open the night by the host Bearcats would lead to an 82-69 St. Vincent victory.

The Blue Streaks fell to 3-1 while St. Vincent improved to 3-0.
JCU trailed by as many as 23 points in the first half, but made a game of it. Back to back baskets by
Emilee Ritchie cut the St. Vincent advantage to 63-53 with 9:31 remaining.
But the Bearcats, ranked #25 in the season-opening D3hoops.com national poll, fired off an 8-0 run and were able to keep the Blue Streaks at bay the rest of the way.
Four players scored in double figures for St. Vincent, with Devin McGrath leading the way by scoring a career-high 24 points to go with 11 rebounds. Brittany Sedlock also posted a double-double, with 16 points and 15 boards.
Ritchie paced JCU with 18 points, while
Lee Jennings had 14.
Missy Spahar had 13 points and a season-high 11 rebounds for her first career double-double.
