Hillary Liwosz provided a spark of the bench with six points and a career-high six rebounds against Muskingum
It was an unsavory bus ride down to New Concord Wednesday for the John Carroll women's basketball team.
Things got even less palatable upon arriving at their destination. Held to its lowest point total in almsot four years, the JCU offense never got going in a 56-40 loss to host Muskingum University.
Box Score
The 40 points represents John Carroll's lowest point production since a 55-38 loss to Capital in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament on February 20, 2007.
With travel conditions affected by snow and wind throughout Ohio, and accidents on Route 8 north of Akron, the Blue Streaks did not arrive until minutes before the scheduled tip-off. The game was moved back to an 8:00 p.m. start
Once the contest began, John Carroll seemed to shake off the after effects of the long trek and scored 12 points in the first 5:05.
Katie Knox (North Olmsted, OH, Rocky River Magnificat) hit a jumper at the 15:55 mark to give JCU a 12-8 lead.
The Blue Streaks managed just 28 points and eight field goals the rest of the night.
The Muskies would close the half on a 17-7 run to take a 25-19 lead into the locker room, and then steadily pulled away in the second half.
Emilee Ritchie (Stow, OH, Stow - Monroe Falls ) and
Missy Spahar (Willowick, OH, Mentor Lake Catholic) led the Blue Streaks with 12 points apiece.
