Box Score Heading into Tuesday night's match, the Blue Streaks were looking for their second straight conference victory, and their fourth in a row over Mount Union. Thanks to a career-best two goals by senior
Mackenzie Kenner, the Blue Streaks prevailed 3-1.
Offense has historically been a struggle against the Purple Raiders, as no John Carroll team had been able to tally more than one goal in a match since 2002. The final score that year was 3-1 in favor of the Blue & Gold. 10 years later, the Blue Streaks were able to duplicate that success.
On Tuesday night in Alliance, offense was not an issue.
The Blue Streaks got on the board first with a goal in minute 21 by junior midfielder
Nicki Bohrer. This was Bohrer's second goal in as many games and her third of the season. 11 minutes later, senior defender
Mackenzie Kenner headed in a corner kick from teammate
Danielle Sharbaugh to put JCU in control.
The Purple Raiders would not go quietly in the second half, however. Down 2-0 in the 58th minute, Mount Union forward Shannon Evans scored her ninth goal of the year and brought the Raiders within one. That was the only goal Blue Streak keeper
Haley McDonald would surrender all evening.
The match remained close for the next 12 minutes until Kenner netted her second goal of the night, pushing the lead out to two goals. The score secured the match for the Blue Streaks, and giving JCU its second conference win and Kenner the first multi-goal of her career.
With the victory, the Blue Streaks go to 7-5-1 and 2-1-1 in the OAC. Up next for the Blue & Gold are the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum University, who will travel up to Don Shula Stadium on Saturday, October 13 for a 1:00 p.m. afternoon match.
