Box Score Not only was the prospect of John Carroll's first conference road win on the line heading into Tuesday night's matchup with Otterbein University, it was also an opportunity to knock off the third place team in the OAC.

Though the game hung in the balance late, the Blue Streaks lost to the host Cardinals by a score of 63-61.

John Carroll had the possibility of taking the game into overtime after staging a comeback with less than ten minutes to play, but Beth Switzler's attempt in the game's final seconds did not fall and the Cardinals walked away with the victory.

Moments earlier, Emily Taylor had a look at a three-pointer that would have given the Streaks their first lead of the second half, but the shot just missed its target.

The Cardinals virtually led wire to wire, but were never able to put the game away after taking a ten point lead into halftime.  JCU would not go quietly, however, staging an 11-2 run to close out the contest.

The major highlight of the night for the Blue Streaks came at the hands of forward Melissa Spahar. Leading the team with 21 points and nine rebounds, Spahar tallied her 1,000 career point and grabbed her 400th career rebound over the course of the contest

Other key performances for John Carroll were 14 points from Switzler and eight points from Allie Lustig. Switzler also helped the team with her five rebounds.

With the loss, the Blue Streaks drop to 10-6 and 3-6 in OAC play. On Saturday John Carroll will take on Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio at 3:00 p.m. The #8 Polar Bears sit at 15-1 and 9-0 in conference play.
