Allie Lustig is the new JCU women's basketball record holder for most assists in a single game

In the second match-up of the season against nationally ranked Ohio Northern, the John Carroll women's basketball team could not pull off the upset in a 72-61 road loss to the Polar Bears.
While the score did not end up in JCU's favor, junior guard
Allie Lustig distributed a school-record 14 assists. Lustig broke Michelle Bielozer's mark of 13, a record that previously stood since 1991.
Ohio Northern was ranked 20th nationally when the Polar Bears first collided with John Carroll this season, and they have since moved up to #8 coming into the afternoon.
By the end of the first half, the top three scorers for the Blue Streaks included forward
Missy Spahar, guard
Beth Switzler, and guard
Christie Wade whom all held six points. Switzler and Wade each connected on a pair of 3-point shots.
Ohio Northern's senior forward Joanna Snyder led her team with 13 points and five rebounds before the break.
Down 39-26 at the half, JCU cut the lead to six at 49-43 with 14:06 to play, before Northern began to pull away. The Streaks outscored the Polar Bears 10-2 in the game's final four minutes, but it wasn't quite enough to upstage the Ohio Athletic Conference leaders.
Spahar and Switzler, fellow Lake Catholic High School alumni, scored 13 each for JCU. Switzler had a team-high eight rebounds.
Snyder stuffed the stat sheet for ONU with 22 points, six assists, and eight rebounds.
John Carroll falls to 3-7 in the OAC and 10-7 overall as Ohio Northern stays a perfect 10-0 in league play and 16-1 overall.
The Blue Streaks return home January 23rd against the Purple Raiders of the University of Mount Union at 7:30 p.m.
