#5 John Carroll defeated #4 Muskingum in three sets (25-23, 25-20, 32-30) in New Concord, Ohio on Tuesday evening.

Five Blue Streaks had seven or more kills, led by 10 each from Sarah Orlandi and Alexa Webber. Kit O'Shaughnessy contributed 36 assists, and Sara Kaminski had 32 digs.

Five JCU players also recorded double-digit digs, with Becca Fortsch and Caitlin Cianciolo logging 20 and 14, respectively. The Blue Streaks had seven blocks in the match.

JCU had to battle in all three sets. In the first, they overcame nine errors to win, 25-23. The second set was the biggest win for the Blue Streaks, with a final margin of 25-20. It took a marathon to win the third set, as the teams battled back-and-forth from a tie at 25 each. A final JCU rally and a block attempt gone awry gave the team the win and the match at 32-30.

The Blue Streaks advance to their second consecutive OAC Tournament semifinal match. JCU takes on Heidelberg in Tiffin, Ohio on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Berg defeated John Carroll in four sets on Oct. 13 at the DeCarlo Center.

This is the first time since Oct. 31, 1995 that the two squads will meet in the OAC Tournament, with a title match berth on the line.
