Box Score 3 After facing a week-long gauntlet in Florida, the John Carroll men's tennis team snared that elusive win on the last day of its stay.
On Friday in Orlando, the Blue Streaks took on NAIA school Marian University (IN) and came away with a 6-3 victory.
JCU had dropped five in a row, including losses to Aquinas (7-2) on Monday and Lee (9-0) on Thursday, but shook off the losses to play some of its best tennis of the week.

In doubles play, John Carroll got wins from veteran doubles duo of
Jad Abdul-Aal and
David Sinense in the #1 spot and the newly minted duo of
Adi Jha and
Nick Siciliano in the #3 match.
Things got tense in singles, although
Tyler Cole and
Alex Guthrie both won in straight sets in the #5 and #6 matches respectively. The outcome essentially came down to Abdul-Aal and Sinense at #1 and #3 singles. Sinense rallied from a 6-1 loss in the opening set to win the second set and force a tiebreaker, in which he prevailed 10-1.
Abdul-Aal also had to go to a tiebreaker to win his #1 match. Against Marty Pochop, he won the first set 6-4 but dropped set two, 7-5. The Blue Streak senior won his 114th career match by closing out the tiebreak, 10-5.
The victory in the doubles match earlier in the day was also historic, as Abdul-Aal surprassed Bryan Mohler (55 from 1996-99) as the all-time leader in doubles wins with the 56th of his distinguished career.
John Carroll is now 2-5 on the season.
