George DiCamillo Added To John Carroll Wrestling Staff

The John Carroll University wrestling program has added a local product to the coaching staff.

NCAA Division I All-American George DiCamillo will serve as the team's graduate assistant, beginning with the 2017-18 season.

"George will be a great addition to our staff and I look forward to watching him develop our lightweight classes," said John Carroll head coach Mark Hawald. "His attitude and work ethic provides examples that I hope all of our wrestlers will work to emulate."

DiCamillo was a four-time Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Champion and NCAA Championship qualifier at The University of Virginia. As a senior, he was the national runner-up at 141 lbs. and was named the 2017 ACC Wrestler of the Year. He won 115 of his 144 matches in college.

DiCamillo competed locally at St. Ignatius High School, where he was coached by Mark Sullivan, a former All-American wrestler at John Carroll. He won two OHSAA Division I state championships for the Wildcats, and was a three-time Walsh Ironman Champion.

DiCamillo, a Highland Heights native, received his Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Virginia and will be pursuing his Masters in Business Administration at John Carroll.
