Close Matches Get Away From Blue Streaks In Men's Tennis Dual Meet Debut

Box Score John Carroll logged a lot of matches in the first semester, but all were part of tournaments.

Saturday marked the first dual meet on the schedule as well as the first competition of the second semester, and the debut did not go as had been hoped. Wabash, who came to Cleveland to face both Case Western Reserve and John Carroll, came away with a split. The Little Giants lost to Case this morning, 8-1, but bounced back this afternoon for a 7-2 win against the Blue Streaks.

Box Score

JCU fell behind in doubles play by dropping the #1 and #2 matches. The #3 tandem of Adi Jha and Andrew Siciliano prevailed 8-5.

There were four closes matches among the six singles bouts, and all four fell away from the Blue Streaks. Gustavo Garcia lost in a pair of 7-6 sets at #1, while David Sinense dropped a 7-5 7-5 match to reigning North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week Patrick McAuley. Both Siciliano and Jha went to tiebreakers at #4 and #6, respectively, but could not pull out wins.

Only Tyler Cole had what amounted to an easy win, as he emerged victorious by a 6-1, 6-2 score at #3 singles.

Wabash improved to 3-3 on the year while John Carroll starts out the campaign 0-1.
