Women's Basketball Garners Top Spot in OAC Preseason Coaches Poll

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- With their first game next week against Carnegie Mellon approaching, the hype is building up for the John Carroll University Women's Basketball. 

John Carroll is ranked first in the preseason Ohio Athletic Conference Coaches Poll. 

The Blue Streaks tallied 81 total points during the vote, earning all nine possible first-place votes. 

Taking second in the poll were the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets, garnering 73 points and the other first-place vote.

Following behind the Blue Streaks and Yellow Jackets in the top five are Otterbein (64 points), Marietta (50 points), and Mount Union (48 points). The teams rounding out the poll are Ohio Northern (45), Capital (35), Wilmington (24), Heidelberg (16), and Muskingum (14). 

The Blue Streaks are not only ranked number one in the OAC, but they are also ranked eighth in the nation for Division III women's basketball. 

The regular season starts next Saturday, November 13. The Blue Streaks will host the JCU Tip-off Tournament to begin the season next weekend. 

The first conference game for John Carroll is on Saturday, December 4. The Blue Streaks will be taking on Muskingum at 2 pm in the DeCarlo Varsity Center.
