2021 OAC Winter Championship Preview: Women's Basketball

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A historic season will continue this Tuesday night, as the outright Ohio Athletic Conference regular season champion John Carroll University Women's basketball team will be the No. 1 seed for the league's postseason tournament

The Blue Streaks will host a quarterfinal round matchup in the OAC Tournament versus the Wilmington College Quakers on Tuesday, March 2.

Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. inside the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

This will be the first meeting of the season between the No. 8 Quakers and No. 1 Blue Streaks. John Carroll won both of the prior regular season matchups during the 2019-20 regular season as well as the playoff matchup by a score of 79-67. 

John Carroll (10-2 OAC) comes in at 6-0 at home this season, winning three of their last four. Wilmington (6-6 OAC, 7-6 Overall) comes in having won three in a row but with a road record of just 3-3 during this abbreviated regular season. Wilmington, won last night at home No. 9 Muskingum by a score of 72-57 for the right to face the No. 1 ranked Blue Streaks. 

Nicole Heffington leads the Blue Streaks with averaging 18.0 PPG. McKayla Binkley leads the Quakers with averaging 18.0 PPG. 

The winner of this contest will advance in the tournament. The lowest remaining seed plays at the highest remaining seed and the second lowest remaining seed plays at the second highest remaining seed.
