Olivia Nagy becomes JCU's 4th straight OAC Player of the Year.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Despite falling short in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament, the John Carroll Women's Basketball squad is set to roar into the NCAA National Tournament.

As another highlight-filled OAC season concludes, the Blue Streaks were able to take home many big awards and honors for the All-OAC teams.

Olivia Nagy was honored as the OAC Player of the Year, while also taking home the Defensive Player of the Year honor. The recognition marks Nagy's second OAC Player of the Year Award (2020 was the first).

In each of the past four years, the Helen Ludwick OAC Player of the Year has been a Blue Streak.

Quite possibly the greatest Blue Streak on the defensive side of the ball of all-time, Nagy notched Defensive Player of the Year in all four years of her career. Nagy remains the only player to ever win the award. To no surprise, Nagy snagged All-OAC First Team honors as well. This is Nagy's third straight selection to the All-OAC First Team.

Alongside Nagy, graduate student Nicole Heffington was given the nod as an All-OAC First Teamer as well. The most prolific scorer in Blue Streak history, Heffington is making her fifth appearance on the All-OAC First Team, a conference first. Heffington is also a two-time OAC Player of the Year, as she has rotated the award with Nagy each of the last four seasons. Heffington will retire as the Blue Streaks' all time leading scorer.

Abby Adler was named as an honorable mention in the OAC for the second time in her career, Adler is a jack of all trades guard for the Blue Streaks who also adds more than complimentary defense. Adler saw season highs of 29 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, which showcases how she could play any role on any night for her team. She also earned Second Team All-OAC status in 2021.

Senior Sarah Balfour was also named to the honorable mention list, one of the first big awards for one of the most deserving players in the OAC. Balfour has been red-hot, knocking down 17 three points down the stretch run of the season. Balfour has shot 50% from behind the arc in her last ten contests, good enough to propel her to this honor. Balfour scored in the double digits in nine games in the second half, turning her into a top tier scoring option for the Blue Streaks.

The Blue Streaks will be in action against Elizabethtown this Friday in round one of the NCAA Tournament.
