BEREA, Ohio -- John Carroll Women's Track & Field enjoyed a quick trek over to Berea this weekend rather than a wide diaspora of events.

The Blue Streaks fired up a first-place effort at the Sparky Adams Invitational at Baldwin Wallace on Friday and Saturday.

John Carroll cruised to the top with 162 points, more than double the second-place finishers (BW with 80 points).

The action began on Friday with the discus and the javelin. In the latter event, freshman Leah Fritsch tossed the javelin a new lifetime best of 32.22m to earn runner-up honors. Emily Blasko tabbed eighth at 20.89m. In the discus, Kelsey Dunn moved up the national list, heating up with her season-best time of 44.08m.

On Saturday, JCU got off to a hot start with the 3000m Steeplechase by nabbing 2-3-4. Katy Fellenstein topped the JCU contingent with a time of 11:46.05. Sydney Jenko dashed to third (11:53.64) in her first running of the event while Sydney Wingler snagged fourth (12:00.18).

In the sprints, the Blue Streaks tallied a victory in the 4x100. Mia Scott, Taylor Anthony, Rosie Murray, and Massey Andrykovitch compiled a time of 48.78 to win the event. Later in the 400m, Ellie Kitsmiller earned fourth with a time of 58.92, while Murray nipped at her heels for fifth in 59.52.

Sticking with the sprints, Anthony won another crown in the 100m. The senior bested all challengers with a winning effort of 12.70. Mia Scott picked up fourth (13.06) and Ella Zambruno tabbed sixth (13.28). And Anthony's day was not done yet, as she picked up a third top finish, this time in the 200m. The Massillon native roared for a time of 25.92 for the victory. Murray narrowly missed overtaking her teammate, settling for second at 25.97. Scott joined them in the top eight at 26.77 for seventh.

In the mid-distance, Abby Schroff dashed to a time of 2:21.78 in the 800m for seventh. In the 1500m, Annie Higgins earned fourth with a time of 4:59.00, followed by Cassie Klein scoring eighth in 5:05.53 with a PR.

On the distance side, Erica Esper snagged second in the 5000m tuneup for the OAC Championships with a time of 18:19.16. Jen Massucci followed in fifth at 18:45.00.

The running events concluded with a triumph in the 4x400 relay. Genevieve Arnold, Andrykovitch, Kaleigh McNamara, and Scott worked together for a time of 4:12.32.

In the field events, the jumps highlighted the day. Arnold was her typical spectacular self, winning the long jump with a hop of 5.34m. Tori Miller also excelled with a jump of 4.87m. Emmy Bryan then showcased her skills in the high jump, hitting a PR with a mark of 1.60m. That landed her third place (after she finished ninth in the LJ).

Three Blue Streaks surpassed 40m in the hammer throw, as Sarah Hart (42.07m), Dunn (42.04m), and Cara Jewett (40.40m) did the honors for JCU.

Meredith Glavach won the day in the pole vault, propelling herself to first place at 2.95m.
