Rosie Murray helped the 4x100 relay punch its ticket to Rochester and also broke a decade-old record in the 400m hurdles.
ALLIANCE, Ohio – On Thursday, John Carroll Track & Field competed one last time at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet before selections for the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Rochester, NY.

Tickets were punched and times improved heading into Friday evening's official announcement.

Most notably, the Women's 4x100 Relay officially booked their trip to Nationals, eclipsing the school record again. The quartet of Genevieve Arnold, Mia Scott, Taylor Anthony, and Rosie Murray clocked a time of 46.79 for a school record. The JCU relay squad advanced to 13th in NCAA Division III with the time.

Anthony also raced for a record in the 100m. The Massillon native touched the line at 12.05 (w: 2.5) to fire up another outstanding effort for the Blue Streaks. Ella Zambruno tallied a time of  13.03, just off a PR. She also finished sixth in the 200m (27.33).

Murray also hit a second school record. The freshman burst for a time of 1:04.17 in the 400m hurdles, surpassing a 10-year old record set by Megan Martinko.

Meanwhile, Dustin Horner ran in the 200m with a time of 22.38, just off his PR. Brody Hanlon did set a PR in the race with a time of 22.65. In the 400m, Victor Ononogbo set a PR with a time of 50.27.

In the 800m, Ellie Kitsmiller clocked in at 2:14.35, just over her season-best time last week. In the Men's 800m, Max Grillo (1:52.39), Caleb Correia (1:53.70), Michael Hvizdos (1:56.54), and Joe Backus (2:00.36) all logged solid times.

Backus also looked great in the 1500m. The veteran clocked in at 3:53.82, over 4 seconds better than his time from the OAC Championships. That's a new PR for the Olmsted Falls native.

In the field events, the Blue Streaks were busy. In the long jump, Genevieve Arnold led a JCU trio with a hop of 5.21m. Tori Miller (4.63m) and Zambruno (4.52m) followed. Additionally, Miller set a PR in the triple jump with a hop of 11.13m. Caroline Beery leaped to 3.47m in the pole vault, one of her best marks of the spring.

In the throws, Kelsey Dunn tuned up in the discus with a tally of 40.60m. She currently ranks 18th in NCAA Division III with her previous best of 44.68m. Leah Fritsch competed in the javelin throw with a hurl of 31.65m.

On the men's side, Noah Schroeder took part in the hammer throw. The Mentor native tossed a mark of 50.03m for fourth. Alec Gorman competed in the javelin with a toss of 41.39m.

At about 8 pm tonight, stay tuned for the official selections to the NCAA Championships.
