WHEATON, Ill. -- John Carroll Wrestling headed west this weekend for Wheaton's annual Pete Willson Invitational.

Dealing with some injuries, the Blue Streaks tallied some wins but no placers.

John Carroll finished in 27th place as a team at the prestigious invitational.

Final Brackets

After opening with a defeat, Americo Milani made some noise in the consolation bracket. The junior tallied a pair of wins via pins in 5:11 and 1:29. But his journey ended there with a loss in the next round.

Wills Bronson opened with a nice tech fall win of 18-1 at 165. But the freshman fell in the next round, and then dropped a 7-2 decision in the consis.

Jesse Kanatzar got out to a hot start at 197. The Tallmadge native began with a pin at exactly the 4-minute mark, and then kept on rolling with a 9-0 major decision. The junior then dropped a 3-1 nailbiter, and couldn't rebound in the consis, losing via fall.

At 285, Thomas Lunt lost his first round matchup, setting up for a long path in the consis. His journey in that bracket began well, with a 3-1 victory via tiebreaker. He then kept rolling with another narrow win, this time of the 4-2 variety. But his path ended there with a defeat.

John Carroll will return to action on Saturday, as the Blue Streaks head to Wilmington to confront the Quakers.
