Caleb Correia Will Be One Of The Finalists Representing The Blue Streaks During Day 2 Of The 2024 NCAA Indoor T&F Championships
VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - After competing in five individual events and one relay, the Blue Streaks have reached the finals in the four events.

These athletes include Ethan Domitrovich in the mile, Caleb Correia in the 800 meters, Basheer Alramahi in the 400 meters, and the 4 x 400 meter relay consisting of Tyler Gast, Garrett Clark, Dustin Horner, and Basheer Alramahi.

The day got started with Genevieve Arnold in the long jump, as she ended her outstanding indoor track & field season this afternoon. After posting three jumps, she couldn't find the board to secure a mark. Overall, this was a great season for the senior as she looks to carry her momentum from the indoor season into outdoor.

Moving on to the track events, sophomore Abby Schroff would place 15th overall and earn a fifth place finish in heat 2 with a time of 5:04.09 in her first ever indoor national championship appearance.

Senior Ethan Domitrovich would find his way into the final, placing fourth in his heat with a 12th place finish overall, running 4:12.21. He will run in his first ever mile final at an indoor national championship meet and look to add another All-American honor to his collection.

In the men's 400 meters, Basheer Alramahi would advance to the final with a time of 47.95 seconds placing fifth overall. Garrett Clark would place 14th overall running 48.55 seconds, finishing third in his heat. This will be Alramahi's second time qualifying for the open 400 meter race, as he looks to earn his second consecutive All-American honor in the event.

Senior Caleb Correia would shine bright on the national stage, breaking his own school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:50.74 to win the prelims and advance to tomorrow's final as well.

Last, but not least the men's 4 x 400 meter relay of Tyler Gast, Garrett Clark, Dustin Horner, and Basheer Alramahi would also win the prelims with a time of 3:13.38 to advance to the final. They will be placed in heat 2 of the finals.

Coach Daniel Tutskey was pleased with the efforts all around from day one of the national meet. "I think it was a good day," mentioned Tutskey. "It was one of those days where the prelims is the most difficult, so I think there was a little bit of nerves today. Overall, I thought it was a great day one."

Tutskey also talks about the 4 x 400 meter relay's performance today and what they can expect going into tomorrow's final. "They competed well," says Tutskey. "National meets are difficult because of the heats you get placed in with the different types of matchups. You can't worry about the other heat. It's all about going out and competing against the guys you are up against. I think they can work on positioning throughout the race. Tomorrow, I think they will be even keeled now that they are in the final."

Lastly, Coach Tutskey touches up on the individual performances from today and what they can rely upon going into those races. "It was a great day," exclaimed Tutskey. "Ethan and Caleb ran smart and tactical races, which is what you have to do in championship races and they put themselves in position to run and advance. It's all about relying on your strengths and those boys showed based on the circumstances of the race. Basheer has done a great job at running complete races with having a tough lane draw. He's a smart racer and he can feel for pace and how to put himself in position to make moves. He's been waiting for this moment since December, but what he did in the 4 x 400 meter relay opened up his legs and gave him more confidence coming off his open race."

Day 2 will get started at 4:15 pm as Domitrovich will get things started in the mile prelims, followed by Alramahi in the 400 meter dash at 4:40 pm. Correia will then race in the 800 meter final at 5:05 pm and Saturday will conclude with the 4 x 400 meter relay at 6:40 pm.

With the prelims now over, the Blue Streaks will look to bring some hardware home during day 2 of the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in those four events.
