BEREA, Ohio – In a strong field of athletes competing from all of the NCAA divisions, the NAIA and even Canadian U Sports, the John Carroll men's track & field squad shined at Baldwin Wallace's Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet as multiple PRs were set.

Final Results

Most notably, three PRs were set in the 800m highlighted by Jett Wieber's 1:54.84 time and 14th-place finish in just his fourth collegiate track meet after multiple seasons of injuries. Chris Whiting (1:57.36) and Johnny Peters (1:58.38) also hit their PRs. Caleb Correia (2nd, 1:51.37) and Ian Paul (4th, 1:52.29) earned top-five finishes overall in the event as well, while Michael Hvizdos ended in 18th (1:55.29).

The Blue Streaks had two runners place in the top 15 in the 400m hurdles, as Mick Doyle (53.89) finished in sixth while freshman Tony Tirado, who also competes on the JCU football team, hit a new PR with a mark of 55.51 en route to finishing 13th.

John Carroll also had a strong contingent in the 200m, with Dustin Horner (5th, 21.56), Garrett Clark (7th, 21.60) and Basheer Alramahi (9th, 21.67) all earning top-10 finishes.

PRs were set by Dominic Delmoro and Hvizdos in the 1500m as well, with Delmoro's time of 3:52.40 was good enough for 10th place while Hvizdos' 3:55.87 was 24th-best in the field. Additionally, Jacob Gehrhardt set his personal best in the steeplechase with a 9:29.99 mark to take 12th.

Freshman Tim Herczog and Broady Hanlon both finished in the top 25 in the 400m, while Jimmy Kartsonas missed qualifying for the finals in the 100m by 0.01 seconds to round out the sprinters for JCU.

To wrap up the distance events, Jack Root (15:18.13) came in 25th while Phil Coury set a new PR with a mark of 15:32.88. Also of note, former Blue Streak cross country All-American Joe Backus, who graduated in May of 2023, ran the race unattached and came in 11th with a mark of 14:51.12.

In the throwing events, Noah Schroeder came in 13th in the hammer throw (50.58m), while Matthew Russo finished in 8th in the discus (45.87m) on Thursday.

Up next, a small contingent of Blue Streaks will compete at Mount Union's Last Chance Meet on Wednesday, May 15-Thursday, May 16.
