Blue Streaks Advance To The Finals In Three Events After Posting Strong Preliminary Efforts

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - It was a hot and sunny day at Doug Shaw Stadium as the Blue Streaks took on day one of the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. 

To get the meet started for JCU, the men's 4x100 meter relay consisting of Garrett Clark, Basheer Alramahi, Dustin Horner, and Jimmy Kartsonas advanced to Saturday's final, clocking in at 40.53 seconds to place sixth overall in the prelim. The relay will look to earn their seventh consecutive All-American finish for the program

Next up for the men was senior Ethan Domitrovich, who put himself in it very early in the race and gutted out an 11th place finish overall with a time of 9:08.59 to advance to tomorrow's final. Domitrovich will look to earn his third consecutive All-American finish in the steeplechase and improve upon last year's sixth place finish. 

To conclude day one for the Blue Streaks, the men's 4x400 meter relay consisting of Garrett Clark, Dustin Horner, Tyler Gast, and Basheer Alramahi would place fourth overall in the prelim with a time of 3:11.80 to advance to Saturday's final. 

The men's 4x100 meter relay will run on Saturday, May 25 at 4:15 pm (ET), while the 4x400 meter relay will conclude the national meet at 8:00 pm (ET). Domitrovich will run on Friday, May 24 at 7:15 pm (ET) in the steeplechase final. 

Looking ahead at other events happening tomorrow, Luke Frazier will make his first appearance in the high jump at 4:00 pm (ET), as well as Basheer Alramahi making his second straight appearance in the open 400 meter dash at 5:15 pm (ET).

It was a splendid day for the men as they will look to make history on the national stage with three events running in the finals so far this meet and are setting themselves up to have another stellar outdoor national championship performance.
