Emma West Honored as NCAC Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week

West netted the game-winning goal for JCU on Saturday vs. Wooster

CLEVELAND – A milestone moment for the senior who netted her first goal of the season during a competitive matchup this week. 

Emma West is the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week for Women's Soccer. 

This award celebrates the game-winning goal from this Blue Streak in her most recent matchup against Wooster. 

The veteran has played in 10 out of 12 games during the 2025 season so far, and her constant effort helped her find the back of the net on Saturday. After a perfectly placed corner kick and a scrum for the ball in the box, West was able to tap the ball from Kathryn Shaffer past the goalie right when it mattered most. With the match tied in the 82nd minute, her timely goal sealed the crucial victory for John Carroll. 

During her career, West has totaled 10 goals and 5 assists, showcasing her reliability and persistence throughout her time with the program. She has stayed consistent, and makes smart plays that don't always show up on the stat sheet. The senior standout will continue to climb the leaderboards as they carry on through the season. 

Up next for West and the Blue Streaks is a competitive NCAC matchup. After a week of rest, John Carroll will hit the road to take on Oberlin this Saturday on the Yeowomen's home turf, looking to carry their momentum and come home with another win.
