The Blue Streaks will be headed to Lake Forest, Illinois to begin the NCAA Tournament

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – For the second time in three years, John Carroll Women's Soccer is headed to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Blue Streaks (13-5-1) earned an automatic bid by winning the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, an impressive feat as first year members of the league.

John Carroll will be headed to Illinois to play in a pod hosted by Lake Forest College, north of Chicago. The Blue Streaks will do battle with Carleton (16-2-2) in the First Round on Saturday, November 15. It will be about a six-and-a-half-hour trip for the Blue Streaks. Saturday's gametime is 2:30 pm EST.

The winner of JCU vs. Carleton will face the winner of Lake Forest (20-0-0) and Spalding (14-4-2) on Sunday at 2 pm.

FULL BRACKET

Carleton College, located in Minnesota, won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championship. The Knights are slated #16 in the NPI (National Power Index) rankings. JCU checks in at #60 in the NPI rankings.

Lake Forest enters the postseason with a spotless record. The Foresters won the Midwest Conference Tournament with back-to-back 1-0 wins on Friday and Saturday. Lake Forest starts the tournament at #12 in the NPI rankings.

Spalding won the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament on PKs on Saturday on PKs, the second SLIAC tournament title for the Eagles. Spalding is at #100 in the NPI rankings. JCU and Spalding have two common opponents: Mount St. Joseph and Maryville. The Blue Streaks beat the Lions, 3-0, while the Eagles bested the Lions, 1-0. As for Marville, the Blue Streaks eked by the Scots, 1-0, while the Eagles lost to the Scots, 1-0.

John Carroll has never played any of the three teams in this pod, so all three foes are quite unfamiliar. JCU has not traveled to Illinois since 2022, when the Blue Streaks played in a non-conference tournament at Wheaton College. None of the teams were ranked in last week's United Soccer Coaches poll, though Lake Forest was receiving votes.

This is the third all-time appearance in the NCAA postseason for the Blue Streaks. JCU's first appearance occurred in 2001 on the heels of a thrilling OAC Tournament Championship before the Blue Streaks bowed out to DePauw University in the first round.

JCU's last appearance in 2023 was nothing short of magical. The Blue Streaks won three matches en route to the Elite 8 in the longest postseason run by a soccer team in school history. John Carroll defeated Cortland (3-0), #8 Case Western Reserve (1-0), and #14 MIT (1-0) before losing to #5 Messiah (0-1).

The Blue Streaks have enjoyed a fantastic season to date. After starting out the year 0-2-1, JCU tabbed six straight wins before ending non-conference play with a loss to #8 UChicago. Picked to finish in a tie for fourth in the preseason coaches poll, the Blue Streaks surprised some folks in NCAC play.

With a 5-2 record, John Carroll won the NCAC Championship. In the NCAC Tournament, JCU would have to face both of the conference foes it lost to in the regular season: Kenyon and Denison. The Blue Streaks took care of both by identical 1-0 scores.
