Blue Streaks Take Care of Titans in Non Conference Match

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - On a picture perfect night at Don Shula Stadium, the John Carroll women's soccer team took care of business by defeating Westminster 4-0. The Blue Streaks have now won four-straight matches and have outscored their opponents 8-0 during the span. The Blue Streaks have now improved to 4-2-1 on the year. 

Early in the match JCU had some strong opportunities at net, but could not connect. The Blue Streaks finally broke through in the 13th minute when Abby Smith received a beautiful pass from Gracie Villwock in the middle of the box. Smith had a perfect touch and found the back of the net giving JCU the early lead. 

The Blue and Gold were not satisfied with a one goal lead, as Andrea Quintero Delgado had an immaculate shot in the 15th minute. The Las Vegas native put the shot right over the outreached hand of the Titan goalkeeper to put JCU up 2-0. 

Heading into the break, with a two-goal edge, JCU owned a 20-1 advantage in the shot category, with nine being on target. 

In the 52nd minute, Meredith Coloian made a few nice moves getting past multiple Titan defenders before taking a strong strike and finding the back of the net for her second goal of the year. 

With the game in hand, first year Brooke Berkowitz had a strong shot at net and notched her second goal of the season. John Carroll ended the night with 31 shots on net, 13 on which were on net. 

Next up, the Blue Streaks will be on the road heading to Cincinnati to take on Mount St. Joseph on Sunday at 4 p.m.
