Women's Basketball Ranked in Two Top 25 Polls Entering 2026-27 Campaign

The Blue Streaks lost a lot of talent from a year ago but have high hopes this season

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – After an outstanding season, the John Carroll University Women's Basketball team is ready to get back into action, entering the 2026-27 season ranked in the top 25 in two preseason polls.

In the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll, the Blue Streaks come in at No. 15 after finishing last season with an impressive 26-5 record.

In addition, the Blue Streaks come in at No. 22 in the D3hoops.com preseason poll.

JCU made it all the way to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Final, where they unfortunately fell short against DePauw. However, the season did not end there, as the Blue Streaks earned a spot in the NCAA Division III National Tournament and hosted a home tournament game for the first time in program history.

Although their historic run came to an end in the Round of 16, the team had a season to remember and continued to raise the standard for JCU Women's Basketball.

Last season, the Blue Streaks were led in part by a stellar senior trio of Ava Ryncarz, Graci Semptimphelter, and Carly Perusek. Ryncarz averaged 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while Semptimphelter shot an impressive 43% from beyond the three-point line, ranking first in the NCAC and eighth nationally in Division III. Perusek rounded out the trio, averaging 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Although losing three key seniors is never easy, JCU has wasted no time preparing for another successful season. The Blue Streaks are already earning national recognition. With a strong foundation and high expectations, JCU looks ready to build on last year's historic success.
