The star becomes the first Blue Streak to win First Team All-America status from D3hoops.com

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – John Carroll history has once again been made, as Luke Chicone has been named to the D3hoops.com All-America First Team.

This marks the first time a Blue Streak has made the First Team and just the second time a player has been named a D3hoops.com All-American. The first? Luke Chicone, back in 2024, when he was named a Second Teamer.

Anyone who followed Blue Streak basketball this year had a feeling this was coming, as Chicone turned in arguably the greatest individual season in program history.

Full All-America Team

The Mentor legend cemented himself at the top of several stat categories, breaking the single season records in assists, steals, and scoring, a record which had previously stood for 73 years.

On top of the single-season accolades, Chico capped off a historic career, landing himself at #4 in career points scored (1,748), #2 in career assists (493) being just 7 away from owning the record, and in a tie for third-most steals (199) in a career.

It was also a very successful season for the Blue Streaks, as Luke's All-American play guided the Blue & Gold to their third straight conference tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, which featured a Round of 64 victory.

This honor, of course, caps off an outstanding awards season for the 5'11 point guard as he has already taken home North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, NCAC Top Defender, All-NCAC First Team, D3hoops.com Region 7 First Team, D3hoops.com Region 7 Co-Player of the Year, NABC All-District 7 First Team, NABC District 7 Player of the Year, and NABC All-America First Team.

"All of Luke's accomplishments are a testament to his undeniable pursuit of greatness. Very few individuals in the history of John Carroll athletics have accomplished TEAM and INDIVIDUAL success like number 0" said Blue Streaks head coach Pete Moran. "He not only embraced our team motto 'Family and Sacrifice' he embodied it. I'm confident his jersey will be hanging over Mike Moran Court and his plaque will be hanging in the John Carroll University Athletic Hall of Fame Hallway before too long."

Luke ends his collegiate basketball career as one of the most decorated athletes in John Carroll and NCAA history.
