Minus a key starter, four other Blue Streak starters picked up the scoring slack and powered John Carroll to an 82-68 victory on the road against Heidelberg Wednesday night in Tifin, Ohio.
John Carroll never trailed in this contest, but did take a while to build momentum. When senior Lana Kiko (Dalton, OH, Dalton) buried a three-pointer with 8:06 to play in the first half, it marked the Blue Streaks first double digit lead at 26-16.
JCU kept up the pressure and owned a 40-24 lead at the intermission.
Heidelberg put a scare into John Carroll to open the second half by scoring the first seven points. When Morgan Harrigan connected on a lay-up at the 16:19 mark, she helped whittle John Carroll's lead down to six points at 41-35.
Senior Rachael Price (Johnstown, PA, Bishop McCort) answered eight seconds later with a three-pointer, then connected on another following a made free throw by the 'Berg to jump start a 9-1 run that pushed the Blue Streaks lead back to 14 points at 50-36 with 14:38 remaining in the second half.
John Carroll would keep the margin in double figures the rest of the contest.

Heidelberg (4-8, 1-4 OAC) received a team-high 17 points from Brittany Skolnicki, who was 5-9 from the field and 7-10 from the free throw line.
