John Carroll had built its season on lengthy winning and losing streaks. On Saturday afternoon at the DeCarlo Varsity Center, "Team Streak" changed its image by following a tough loss Wednedsay with a 72-65 upset of Wilmington in the final regular season contest of the 2008-09 campaign for both teams.

In its last game, JCU had fallen by over 20 points to crosstown rival Baldwin-Wallace, but rebounded nicely to halt a losing streak at one game for the first time this year.
The Blue Streaks hosted the the Quakers on what was John Carroll's Senior Day, as seniors

Caitlin Hubach (Fairview Park, OH, Magnificat) started in their final career regular season game. But the afternoon started off on shaky ground for the home team as Wilmington raced out to a 20-12 lead over the first ten minutes.
JCU still trailed by a 23-15 count with just under eight minutes remaining when they began a comeback. The Blue Streaks would outscore the Quakers 13-4 over the final 7:40 of the half to take a 28-27 lead into the locker room.
John Carroll and Wilmington played a very close second half where there were eight ties and seven lead changes over the first 17 minutes of the period.
After
Sadie Zander (Vermillion, OH, Vermillion) hit a three-point field goal to put JCU ahead 58-57 with 3:20 left in regulation, Wilmington answered with a pair of free throws by Kortney Kin to go back up 59-58.
The Blue Streaks then would take the lead for good, scoring nine unanswered points to take a lead by a score of 67-59. Hubach started off the run with a lay-up, and ended it with a pair of free throws to stake JCU the eight-point advantage with 40 seconds left in the contest.
John Carroll (14-11, 9-9 OAC) was paced by
Caitlin Sureck (Medina, OH, Walsh Jesuit), who scored 18 points. Seniors Hubach (16) and Price (14) also reached double figures as John Carroll won for the fifth time in its last six games. The win also marked a dramatic turnaround from the last time JCU faced Wilmington, as the Blue Streaks fell to the Quakers, 83-55, in Wilmington on January 17.
Wilmington (18-7, 11-7 OAC) was paced by a game-high 28 points from Kin, while Marianne McGoron added 16 points for the Quakers.
