Shumaker was her program’s most prolific scorer at the time of her graduation. In four seasons as a letter winner and starter, Shumaker compiled 1,535 points, 867 rebounds and 163 blocked shots -- all of which were among the eight school records she held at the time her career ended.
Shumaker was honored on the All-Ohio Athletic Conference women’s basketball team all four years she played, including first team nods in 1993 and 1994. She was the Cleveland Cavaliers’ rebounders Club award winner as Northeast Ohio’s top collegiate women’s basketball player in 1993, and was a second team AWSF All-America selection that year as well.
A three-time team MVP who also lettered in softball while at John Carroll, Shumaker helped lead the Blue Streaks to their only two 20-win seasons in program history in 1993 and 1994 at the time of her induction.
