Sam Marcus played on the gridiron at tackle from 1938-1940.

Marcus started during the 1939 and 1940 seasons and was named to the All-Big Four team in 1939.  During that season, he helped the team clinch a Big Four title with a 6-0 victory over Western Reserve at Cleveland Stadium en route to a 7-1 record.

Earlier that year, Marcus scored a touchdown on a blocked punt against Case Tech.

In 1995, Marcus was named to the "Pre-War Era" team (1920-1942) as part of the 75th anniversary of JCU football.
