A consensus All-American in both 2001 and 2002, Tom Arth rewrote the John Carroll football record book as its starting quarterback from 1999-2002.

The Blue Streaks were 33-11 in his four years as a letter winner and starter, including 12-2 as a senior. The 2002 team would go on to capture the NCAA East region championship to become the first NCAA Championship semifinalist team in school history. That year's squad would finish the season ranked #5 in the nation by D3football.com.

Elected team captain in 2001 and 2002, Arth held 18 school records at the time of his graduation. He was named All-North region 1st team in 2001 and 2002, and All-OAC 1st team in 2001 and 2002.

Years after his graduation, which included playing professionally for five seasons in the NFL, NFL Europe and Arena Football League, Arth would be selected to the D3football.com National All-Decade team of the 2000s (third team), which encompasses the years 2000-2009.
