Mike Collica broke through his senior season to become an All-American, and followed Tom Bennett as only the second John Carroll wrestler to win 100 career matches (his 102 victories is till fourth best all-time).
Collica placed third at 142 pounds at the 1989 NCAA Division III Championships. He was a four-time PAC champion, and qualified for the Division III nationals three times, winning three Midwest regional titles.
In 1987, he was the Co-MVP of the PAC Championships, and in 1989, he was both an Ohio Collegiate and a National Catholic Invitational champion.
In his four years as a starter, John Carroll won four PAC crowns and had three top six national showings, including fourth place in 1986 and 1989.
