Keller played as a point guard for the Blue Streak men’s basketball team from 1952-1955.
During his four years, three of which were as a starter, Keller played against teams that later became major college programs such as Louisville, DePaul and Dayton.
The Blue Streaks were 29-20 in Keller’s final two seasons, recording victories against St. Bonaventure, Seton Hall and Georgetown.
Unfortunately for Keller, records for assists were not kept during his time at John Carroll. George Dalton, the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,357 points, stated before his final collegiate game that "Trog should get credit for at least half of my points." Dalton still feels that way, as in a Cleveland Plain Dealer article in 1993, Dalton said, "Trog Keller was one who was special…he was responsible for my success. He always knew where I was on the court. He was amazing."
Keller started in his final 49 games as the Streaks went 29-20. He also set three school records that were kept during his career, including most games played in a single season (27 in 1952-53).
