Rudy Kirbus was a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference Champion and guided John Carroll Men’s Basketball to three NCAA Tournament Appearances. The 6-4 forward helped JCU win the OAC Regular Season Championship as a freshman, averaging 7.2 points per game and scoring 23 points in the 2007 NCAA Championship sectional semifinal. During his junior campaign, Kirbus shined, averaging 13.1 ppg and 5 rebounds per game en route to All-OAC First Team honors. The Blue Streaks won a school-record 21 consecutive games on its way to OAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, along with an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. As a senior, Kirbus topped the team in scoring with 15.1 ppg, pulled down 5.3 rpg, and shot .832 from the free throw line. After guiding JCU to an OAC regular season crown and an NCAA postseason appearance, Kirbus garnered First Team All-District, First Team All-Region, and First Team All-OAC honors. Kirbus played in 114 games and scored 1,358 points, which ranked second and sixth, respectively, at time of induction. Additionally, Kirbus played quarterback for JCU Football in 2006 and 2007.Â
