A dominating force on the defensive end, Kuczmarski earned the title of Most Valuable Defensive Player in 1980 after leading the team in fumble recoveries. Kuczmarski was John Carroll’s second Division III football All-American (Barrett was the first) when he earned the honor following his senior year in 1981. He was All-PAC in 1980 and 1981.
As a senior, when he served as team captain, Kuczmarski led his team in tackles with a total of 108, 22 of which were unassisted. Later down the road, he was assigned to the "Modern Era All-Time Team" as a Defensive Linesman.
