Dick Bright, from Little Rock, Arkansas, was the most prolific back in JCU’s entire pre-World War II era. A true all-around performer, Bright ran, passed, kicked, and punted on offense while playing halfback on defense as well.  One of his greatest games was the 25-0 Thanksgiving Day win over Baldwin-Wallace in 1923.  Bright started the game due to injuries of the normal starters and shined by scoring every point for the Blue Streaks that day.

Bright set numerous records which stood for nearly a quarter century. His 45-yard field goal against Western Kentucky in 1924 was the JCU mark until 1971 while his 6 three-pointers that year held up until 1982. The 190-pounder led the Streaks to a 7-2 mark in 1924 and a team total of 260 points. Those figures remained the school’s best ever until 1950.

Bright was also named to "The Pre-War Era" 1920-1942 all-time team for John Carroll as a kicker.
