Michael Corte joins the Athletic Hall of Fame after putting together a stellar resume as a member of the JCU Football team. A four-year letterwinner from 1987-1990, Corte made an immediate impact on the offensive line, earning Most Valuable Freshman honors during Tony DeCarlo’s first season as head coach. In 1988, Corte began his string of 30 consecutive starts at left tackle, during which time the team posted a 24-6 record. He was named the team’s Most Improved Player that season. As a member of the 1989 team that was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019, Corte was part of an offensive line that helped the Blue Streaks win its first OAC Championship and set a school record for wins in a season with nine. The 1989 Blue Streaks earned their first NCAA Division III playoff appearance. As a senior in 1990, Corte tallied second-team All-American from Don Hansen’s Football Gazette, First Team All-OAC distinction, and the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Lineman honors.
