Phil Mansell, from the class of 2004, was the starting goalkeeper during a highly successful era of John Carroll men's soccer.

A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter, Mansell followed in the footsteps of Hall of Famer net-minder Paul Habrecht and posted a record of 33-10-2 record in his three seasons as a starter. Coupled with his five wins as a freshman, Mansell holds the JCU record for career victories by a keeper (38). He also holds the mark for career shutouts with 23.

Mansell was part of three NCAA Division III Championship Qualifiers (2000, 2001 and 2003), two OAC regular season championships (2001 and 2003) and two OAC Tournament titles (2000 and 2003). As a senior in 2003, Mansell helped the Blue Streaks win their first two NCAA playoff games in program history to advance to round of 16. The team record was 57-16-4 in Mansell's four seasons.

Individually, Mansell racked up an impressive list of honors, including second team All-Region in 2002 and 2003, first team All-Ohio in 2003 and 2003, OAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2002 and 2003 first team All-OAC in 2002 and 2003, and honorable mention All-OAC in 2001.
