Corey Shontz was an All-American and the first men’s Basketball player to win the Ohio Athletic Conference’s Most Outstanding Player award.
Shontz anchored one of the most successful classes in program history, as the Blue Streaks captured three OAC regular season titles (2009, 2011, 2012), one OAC Tournament Championship (2009), and earned two NCAA Tournament bids (2009 and 2010) during his career.
Following his senior season in 2011-12, Shontz became John Carroll's first National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American in 29 years, and also earned a selection to the National All-Jesuit Team. He became the sixth Blue Streak to earn First Team All-OAC status twice (2010 and 2012).
At the time of his graduation, he held the career records for three-point field goals made (185) and finished in the top eight of several other career statistical categories including second in steals, third in assists, fifth in games played, eighth in points, and eighth in field goals.
