Thea Consler was a standout in two sports, but truly made a name for herself and her school in track & field. She earned All-American honors in the long jump four times (twice indoor and twice outdoor), with her best finish a fourth place showing at the 1996 Division III indoor championships.
Consler was also a four-time national qualifier in the triple jump, and holds the distinction as the first woman to earn All-American honors in the history of the sport of track & field at JCU.
In the Ohio Athletic Conference, Consler was a standout as well. She was named Most Valuable Track and/or Field Athlete on four separate occasions. At the time of her graduation, Consler held six JCU Track & Field records (four as an individual, two as part of relays) and helped to lay the foundation for the ongoing success of the program.
In addition to all her track & field exploits, Consler was also a two-time All-OAC selection in women's soccer. Named Most Valuable Player in women's soccer as a senior, Consler graduated as the third-highest point scorer in women's soccer team history.
As a four-year letter winner in women’s track & field and a four-year letter winner and starter in women’s soccer, Consler was the recipient of the 1996 Clyde A. Lamb Award, annually given to the top-student athletes in the OAC. She also earned Academic All-OAC status several times throughout her career at John Carroll.
