Auld was twice named an All-Mideast Region honorable mention in baseball during his collegiate career at JCU. In the PAC, he was named to the first team all-conference twice and helped the team win conference titles in both his junior and senior seasons.
At the time of his graduation in 1988, Auld owned or shared 15 school records, including career base hits (114), career doubles (32), career RBI (71) and career home runs (9).
He was named team captain as a senior and he hit .455 that season.
