Curtis was an integral part of the resurgence of John Carroll football in the late 1980’s. A four-year letterwinner as a tailback, Curtis made a name for himself as both a rusher and receiver.
His 93 career receptions at the time of his graduation was a school record, and his 1,072 receiving yards were third best all-time. An honorable mention All-American as a senior, Curtis was a four-time selection to the All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference team, including a first team accolades in 1988.
Twice named the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Back, Curtis was also voted as a team captain in 1988.
He received the Sam Morocco Award as the senior with the highest GPA on the football team, and was a Rhodes Scholar candidate.
