Brian Sobolewski, was an All-American his senior season after becoming John Carroll's first ever national champion in the javelin event. Sobolewski tossed it a school record 217-6 feet, more than three feet further than the closest competitor. He was also the All-Ohio javelin champion and a national qualifier in his junior season.
A three-time all-conference performer (1999-2001) during his career, Sobolewski contributions helped John Carroll win the school's first and only Ohio Athletic Conference title and place 13th in the nation in 2001 – the highest marks achieved by the program at the time.
During his time in University Heights, Sobolewski also earned two letters playing football.
