Freedman was a three-year varsity player for the Men's Basketball team from 1938-1941.

He was second in scoring all three years he played. Freedman became a standout player for the streaks and became the captain for the Streaks for the 1940-1941 team. He was the leading scorer as a senior on the 1940-1941 team averaging 12 points per game. As a result, he lead the team to All-Big Four in 1940-1941.
